My name is Jamie. I am from America and am extremely proud to be a foreign teacher here at Houde Foreign Language School. Ever since I began teaching here 9 months ago, I have been most impressed by this institution’s advanced learning environment. Every time I step into the classroom I am aware that I am amongst the brightest students and most accomplished teachers.

This school is situated in a vibrant city. I feel that Houde has absorbed the finest foreign language learners that Ganzhou has to offer. Sure there are many options in this city when it comes to choosing an institution to learn a language. But there are none so excellent as Houde.

It also deserves mentioning the student’s living situation. They have expressed to me personally that they feel they are learning to be independent as on campus residents. They are learning to be social. They are learning the value of cooperation, tolerance and peaceful co-existance. I see this as beneficial to their education, because, as we know, wisdom can not be taught in a book, but rather through life. 

     The faculty at Houde are held to very high standards. They exert a level of energy that I have rarely seen in other schools throughout the world. Their dedication to their profession is evident both in and out of the classroom. It is not uncommon to see them putting in hours of preparation to ensure the highest quality class possible. The teachers of Houde are professionals of the highest degree. This is reflected in the student’s English speaking ability. As a foreign teacher, I can say with absolute certainty I am teaching with the best.

     Most impressive is the discipline with which the student’s engage their studies. I find their reading comprehension, spoken English and pronunciation are advanced far beyond their peers in other schools. They are well behaved. They listen intently throughout the class and are receptive to direction. I am also impressed by their attention span, as the class day is long and trying. Their day starts at 6:30, when they greet each day with physical exercise. There again, I am in awe of their ability.

       As a foreigner I feel as if I found my home away from home.. The faculty support me as if I was one of their own. I know this sense of community starts with the leaderrship, whom I respect for setting such a precident. There have been times when I have felt lost and lonely and my colleagues here at Houde would guide me through the tough times. We have shared many moments of joy together and have found common ground despite the differences in culture and background. I am confident that if there is anything I need, be it pedagogical guidance or just someone to lend an ear, I can count on each and everyone here to offer me such support. My deepest gratitude to you guys.

       I am especially grateful for the opportunity to learn about China through this institution. It is a place where we can share ideas and experiences. I receive an education on Chinese values and customs every time I walk in front of the classroom. 

In short, the environment here at Houde is conducive to success. I find that there is an unprecedented atmosphere of warmth in this school. I look forward to teaching here for the foreseeable future.
